Oh man, I hate this one. HEAVY!!!!!Both bands are top 5 all-time for me, though I really cannot call Zeppelin metal, Zep' inspired and paved the way for metal. Metallica, is metal, and I can't compare the two. 'Tallica has been doing metal since '81, thats 25 years of metal. Zeppelin on the other hand, had many songs that were folk-style, or shallow blues, or just plain rock and roll. They are both bad-***. If you want to look at how many bands and fans were inspired by them, the medal goes to Zeppelin, as they started pretty much everything we know of heavy music. But the songwriting was different then, hard-blues-rock was the style that started "HEAVY", both metallica and zeppelin have inspired me, but I think that Zeppelin has had a more lasting, and had more of an impact on HEAVY muzik.

I would say Led Zeppelin is a greater band since they did inspire Metallica and other heavy metal groups. But I like Metallica more. Hard question too.

Led Zepplin, Great band in the 70's, amoungst 1 of the best bands of all time.
Metallica a good band of the 80's & 90's. Not quite legend material as Led Zepplin.

Yes Led Zep sure, Metallica recorded only one good album "Kill 'Em All" but all Led Zep records are great.

i like led zepplin but i love mattalica. i think zep has made more songs that are good and mattalica has made a couple songs that are great. so i think led zep but i love mattalica.
