Yeah, that's about what the female action star is. Unsarcastically, though:
Tank tops are a good choice. Try to choose one in black if possible. Whatever you do, DON'T and I repeat DON'T wear your Hello Kitty or Katamari one. Action stars are not cute.
A pair of baggy cargos is good if you don't plan on wearing mini-shorts. Green or beige is good. Bonus points for camouflage. See above rule on cuteness.
Fishnets seem to be popular. Don't know why, but they are. Optional. Bonus points for big rips. They don't work well with cargos, though, so don't bother. These things feel weird!
Combat boots are pretty much the only choice for footwear. Since you probably aren't going to find any ones with Spongebob on them, it's hard to go wrong. If you are wearing fishnets, I strongly recommend wearing at least ankle-socks with them.
Make sure that your hair is in a sporty style, something that wouldn't get caught up in zombie claws or your buff guy hero's sweaty muscle shirt. Ponytails or low pigtails are good. Don't do an updo, and for the love of all things Laura Croft DON'T put it in anything that looks like Blossom, Bubbles, or Buttercup's do's.
Guns, whips, and anything else that could seriously hurt anyone is good. But please, buy a toy one.
