What you call a cynic may be just someone who has a better grasp on reality. Being cynical does not exclude the cynic from having an active and full social life, it just means they recognize not everyone is a long term relationship, and are more prepared for the foibles you run into when dealing with other people.

I have been called a cynic, and yet I'm neither lonely nor friendless. Go figure.

Cynics by definition are wary of anyones' ability to know the truth. So, instead of affirming any convivial space for communication, they admonish the prospect and are attenuated to the flaws and quotidian meaninglessness of all things democratic. Social reality and the material world distract and profane our individual searches, by human nature. The cynic knows this and is in a battle against the world and himself in order to get closer to the truth. The cynic in the public space falters and is absurd, or is not truly a cynic at all.

I think the "cynics" you write of are actually just people who want to think about things, to debate, and most people accept the world around them without question. What you call "cynics" other people would call Europeans.

Real cynics are not necessarily loaners.

Who says that we are lonely? Ascribing the trait of loneliness to us is biased and based on the assumption that all humans need some sort of bond to exist (which we don't).
