If you have a sound card installed in your system, Windows will add a little yellow speaker icon into the system tray located at the lower right hand corner of the screen during installation. In short, this yellow speaker icon allows you to make adjustments to your audio card’s various volume controls when you double click on it.
But sometimes this yellow speaker disappears, when one inadvertently disables it or you may have a particular situation where you actually want it to be disabled so that you can increase your system resources. Therefore, this technical brief will show you how to enable or disable the little yellow speaker icon in the system tray.
For Windows XP
Go into your Control Panel by first clicking on the Start Button.
Then click on the Control Panel icon located in the right column of the Start Menu.
If your Start Menu is set to the Classic View, then begin by clicking on the Start Button.
Then click on Settings, then click on the Control Panel icon to open up the Control Panel.
Now, Double click on the Sounds and Audio Devices icon until it opens for you.
This will bring up the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window.
At the center of the screen is a white box next to Place volume icon in the taskbar.
To enable the speaker icon, place a check mark into the white box with your mouse.
To disable the speaker icon, simply remove the check mark from the white box.
Then click on the OK button to close the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties Window.
And then close the Control Panel to return back to your Windows session.
Adjust sound.
For Windows XP

Now, Double click on the Phone and Modem Options icon until it opens.
Now click on the Modems tab at the top of the screen.
Then click on the Properties button at the bottom right hand side of the screen.
Now click on the Modem tab at the top of the screen.
In the top center of the screen you will see the Speaker volume slider bar.
Adjust this volume slider bar according to your personal preferences.
Then click on the OK button to save your settings and exit the Modem properties window.
Then close all open windows to return back to your Windows session.
Then repeat the above procedure for any additional Dial-Up Connections you have.

On the bottom right corner of your screen you should have the time...
To the left of the time a few icons...
To the left of that and arrown (<)...
Click on that and it will bring more icons up...
Then you should see your speaker icon...
Right click on the speaker and it will bring up a menu...
Click on Open Volume Control...
You probably only need to adjust the controls on the left side...
Make sure the Mute is unchecked...
Goodluck! ^_^

Buy a Mac and after you plug it in and register it, you only have to press F5.
Or you can download a new driver and go to "My Computer", "Control Panel", "Add/Remove Software", "Add Windows Components", And then if you can't find what you really need? Add some games and enjoy a nice game of solitaire on your left speaker in Mono. Oh look a new Pop Up Window? I can have a 4 hour erection for only $14.95........Welcome to Vista or XP.
Sorry PC Hater here.
Control Panel, Speakers, Volume.
If my PC Memory serves me?
