I am sure that fish sleep. I do not know of any animal that doesn't sleep.

Fish do need sleep, just like any other living being. It's important that you don't leave the lights on over the tank, because fish do not have eyelids. It's very hard to sleep when there are bright lights on and you can't shut the eyelids you don't have. And because tank lights can be quite bright, a good idea is when turning the lights off, turn on a room light and then turn off the tank lights, and after a short while turn off the room lights. This doesn't put the fish from a really bright environment immediately into a really dark environment. It gives them time to adjust to the light differences.

Fish do sleep..The only reason we don't see this is because they have no eyelids. Actually when a fish is sleeping they sit there motionless..Sometimes they are sitting on the bottom of the tank and sometime they are in the middle or top of the tank being motionless.

Yes, but here's what makes them great. Fish sleep only with half of their minds asleep. That's so they would know if a predator or enemy is getting near. Still, it's senses are half-off, that's why other fishes bump on sides of tanks and other ocean fish get injured when they hit corals or sometimes sea anemones.

Hope you are happy with that.

yes. With their eyes opened. Usually they just blank their minds and do what we might call daydreaming. Some float in place, some wedge themselves into a spot in the mud or the coral, some even build themselves a nest. They will still be alert for danger, but they will also be “sleeping.” Dolphins - who are not fish but mammals - sleep with one part of their brain (while one part is sleeping, the other is functioning).

yes but they don't exactly sleep like us humans do they usually go to the bottom of their tank and rest for a while and they don't close their eyes because they don't have eyelids.

Yes, I believe they do. We turn out their light before we go to bed...In the morning, they are in a floating state....Till I feed them and they start to scatter and eat...Looking lively. But in their floating state....Not moving.....But perfectly upright.....I think they are asleep. I believe EVERY living has to have some sleep....

Nope! They stay awake in case we are going to feed them WAY too much fish food again. (which we always do).
