Value is in the wallet of the usurious possessor. To some, value is the gold standard, to others it is the future life of a kitten thrown out in the middle of a busy street. Value is pride unmasked at the annual Harlot's Ball and the responsibility of the seeker to obtain it for him/herself.
Street value of heroin escalates from the pennies it cost to produce it to a billion dollar industry and never mind the value of the humans caught in its horrid web, as they shall be judged worthless by most societies, but having been an addict, I know better.
I outlived the statistics involved in being a New York street hype and just spent three years paying off a $12,000 veterinary bill to add three years of life to a stray cat dumped in the middle of a feral colony some 20 years after my last "fix." The tiny little cat taught me value is not the worth of my own life, but the measure of my reverence for yours or that of any stranger in need to my door and my ability to put my essence in the life pot and prove my life moves to the tune of "Forward March" all ye creatures Great and Small.

To me, value is what I love/like/appreciate [not necessary in terms of $$$]. Value is also the factor that makes something seem so precious to me.
I value 'hope' very much ...

to me? well... i'm still 17 so value is still a pretty vague term at the moment. but lets see... typically, for something to be of value it usually means that is has to be either extremely rare or unique. in a world where consumerism and industrialism are everwhere, not many things are scarce like they used to. we (the majority of countries around the world) have more food and drink products than they could possibly consume, clothing is no longer considered a luxury (unless we're talking about "haute couture") and generally the basic human needs have been covered on all levels. this has brought us to a point where we no longer consider the things that keep us alive precious, but those things which can make our lives luxurious and more fun.

therefore, gold, diamonds and other precious stones and minerals are considered valueable. radiatioactive substances and other materials that can be used as bio/chemical weapons can also be sold at astronomical prices.

all that, to an average human being ( and to world leaders ) can be referred to as things of VALUE. but to a 17-year-old girl just starting to live her life and only just beginning to discover the myracles of everything concerning the world, true value can be found within the things that cause u pain to lose...

example 1: a few months ago i lost my very best friend (she didnt die, but just didnt want to be my friend any more due to a misunderstanding that had occurred). i was so devastated that i could no longer eat normally, i couldnt bring myself to excersize and i could hardly study or even sleep. i had become so incerdibly attached to that person that i didnt feel alive without her. when that person finally realized the misunderstanding that had brought them to think me unworthy of being her friend, and we made up again, my live returned to me!

example 2: those who are familiar with the story of the rugby team who's plane crashed in the frozen mountain-tops near Chile will certainly understand how precious food and water suddenly became tp those people when they realized that no rescue team was going to come and save them. after months of waiting up in the snow, they started eating the bodies of their dead team mates in order to stay alive. those people who survived that tragedy now realize the necessity of having a full stomach, and therefore the value of food.

example 3: the people who live in the desert and go for days without water will not be crazy about gold and money, but they WILL do ANYTHING for a glass of water. gold they may have plenty, but water ... not so much.

my point? value what gives ur life meaning and what gives u life...period! friends and family who can give u someone to love and can love you back in return can give u a reason to keep going. food and water are what keeps ur body running, as long as u dont over-do it, of course... ^_^

so what is value to me? value is the main characteristic of something that fulfills me physically and emotionally. it is the characteristic i give to that something which i cannot live without, or just cant imagine my life without. it is the very thing that makes me consider those things special.

and what do i consider of value? i think i've already answered that question above: friends who love me and show it, family that will always be there for me, food and water that will keep me alive so i can live my life happily and healthily and most of all... THE ABILITY TO ACTUALLY SEE THE THINGS THAT ARE OF TRUE VALUE!!!!!!!! otherwise everything else is useless.....

Definately health.......I've been sick for ten years and in times between when I have been feeling better, my world felt better. And of course true and good friends, integrity and someone to love and be loved back.
