Increase exercise and reduce calories, obviously, same as anyone else. Many people will recommend low carb, which works well for some people. I prefer low g/i (low glycemic index) which is similar, but doesn't limit carbs quite as much, though it focuses on what types of carbs you're eating and how they're combined with other foods. The doctor I see to manage my PCOS doesn't recommend any one particular type of diet, but suggests that his patients with PCOS eat a healthy, well balanced diet that works for them, whether it's low carb, low g/i or something else.
You may want to meet with a nutritionist to come up with a healthy eating plan that works best for you-your preferences, needs, and lifestyle matter when figuring out a healthy eating plan.

A low sugar diet and exercise is the best.
Also if you're not looking to start a family speak to your GP about the contraceptive pill, there are ones that help with PCOS and can help when trying to lose weight. Having PCOS is a hormone imbalance and taking the pill can level out the hormones which helps to decrease the severity of PCOS.
Drink plenty of water, this helps too.
I have PCOS and have found all these effective. When you do lose the weight (and you will) you will find that you'll start to lose more and more easily as the weight comes off, this is because losing weight has the same effect as taking the contraceptive pill and again the severity will decrease. Once you've got to your goal make sure you keep up with the low sugar diet and the exercise, I did not and slowly put the weight back on, I'm currently pregnant but will start things up again along with the pill once I've had the baby.
I hope this helps.
Good luck.

my sister in law has pcos and she is currently in the middle of a weight loss program, she eats a high protein, low carb diet as this seems to be the most effectivefor her and many other woman with pcos, she has found that combined with regular exercise she is losing 2-3lbs a week and this weightloss has already improved some of her symptoms of pcos, her skin is clearer and excessive hair growth is alot slower, she is also having more periods however there not yet every month. She is getting less tired and her mood has improved grealty. She is no linger letting pcos control her and she has hope that one day in the future she will conceive a baby naturally. I am sure that you could try and the above and I would like to think that it may help you and your condition. good luck

Hello, low carb is the best weight loss plan for PCOS. It is similar to the diet required for a diabetic beacuse you need to control the insulin, hence the fact that both ttcers and diabetics both can take metaformin.
Good Luck!

the same diet as a diabetic would folow is suppose to be a good diet for pcos as some people with pcos are insulin resistant.
speak to your doctor though as not everyone is the same and one diet that works for one might not work for you.
What ever diet you follow make sure you are getting plenty of water to drink and exercise.
cut out the bad stuff ie alcohol -smoking - sugar- refined carbs ie white bread and fast foods
eat more fresh food - vegetables - fruit - lean meat- fibre - the
right fats - good carbs ie wholemeal pasta and dairy
