9/11. At home pregnant with second child and a 2 year old...not hearing from my husband who works on an air force base and was in total lock down (def con 4) for nearly 24 hours.

I felt helpless and so responsible for those little lives with me. I knew the world was changed and that my children would never really know the secure and safe world i did for a while.

All the little issues that we gripe about daily didn't matter that day...and really shouldn't now. People out there are willing to die themselves trying to kill Americans. Scary thought.

The assassination of JFK. I felt so bad for Jackie who had lost a baby (Patrick) only three months before and saw her husband die such a horrible death. She was left to raise two small children alone. She had money but it doesn't cure sorrow.
JFK's death and the conspiracy theory changed America forever.
