D.L. Amiss of England was the first cricketer to score a century in the history of Cricket world cup.

In the first match of 1975 Prudential World Cup, which was the first world cup cricket match, played at Lord's, london on 7th June, 1975 against india, Amiss scored 137 runs from 147 balls with thehelp of 18n fours. England won that match by 203 runs.
