I have grown Brandywine tomatoes. The taste is wonderful and they grow quite large. They are good growers with bushy vines and good production of fruit. What I don't like is the way that they form, they are not round, they have what appears almost to be segments and I end up wasting a lot of the tomato. I did enjoy them but I don't think that I will grow heirlooms for that reason. I hate to waste!

I haven't had much luck with hierloom tomatoes, but, I always end up planting a few of them. I get the ones that grow in bushes and it seems that we always get a deluge of rain that I think may have an negative effect on their growth.
I always cya by getting a few big boys or big girls, better boys? whatever, from walmart or a big box store. I have pretty good luck with those mainly, I think, because they grow on tomato cages and keeps the vines off the ground.

Cherry tomatoes. Not sure how or why, but the tomatoes you get at the shops are genetically engineered so that if you try to grow them, you end up with cherry tomatoes. Don't really understand it, but they are scrumptious.

I tried them under hot and humid conditions. They did awful, barely producing and with meager foliage growth. Of course I didn't do a lot for them.
Unless you live in a dry climate, be prepared for a lot of spraying and pampering.
I'm not a real cherry tomato fan. Juliet (a little larger) has done well for us.
