Depends, if they are a close friend they should be ok if you just tell them straight, probably they just don't realise the problem.
If it's someone you work with it may be better to drop hints like, " Can you smell something?"

Brag about your new fragrance of deodourant or perfume and offer that they try some. If they like it, tell them where to buy it and say 'you definitely should get some for yourself'.
