Johnny was born Feb.26, 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas.He was one of seven children born to Ray and Carrie Cash. He is an American. One of his older brothers died as a result of a sawmill accident that Johnny blamed himself for, he was supposed to stay with his brother and instead he went fishing.

No he was not. He was the son of a poor cotton sharecropper and had no Indian heritage as far as anyone knows. He was born in the cotton growing area of Arkansas.

I am quite sure he was not an American Indian. He was born and raised in Mississippi, I think. I know he spent some time in the U.S. Air force
