Hello,
(ANS) First of all from past experience I strong suggest avoiding combo products like Norton's security suite. Use dedicated tools for dedictaed tasks/jobs. Stand alone tools have the edge over combo products.
Anti Virus products.
a) YES! you can physically have two or more Anti Virus programs installed on your machine. But its really NOT that good an idea though.
b) No! you are definately asking for trouble if you attempt to run x2 anti virus programs at the same time. You have been warned!!
c) I have used almost all the popular retail AV packages over the years and I removed Symantecs Norton AV 2002 due to the cost of the update subscription costs being increased by so much and then they wanted to add another £12 because I wanted to pay by debit card not CC (someones taking the micky!!).
Norton 2002 was replaced with AVG Free which turned out to have ALL the same features & function of Norton and is infact a better product and is 100% freeware.
AVG Free has daily updates too which are again free!! enough said I think!!
**Firewalls, I can recommend ZoneAlarms freeware basic free firewall for NT/win2K/XP (doesnt work on Vista though, there isnt a free vista personal firewall available yet as far as I am aware).
**But you have to turn off the Windows firewall built into XP as again the machine wont like it if you try to run x2 firewalls. I've been using Zone Alarm version 2.361 for many years and its rock solid and does a great job, set it & forget it. Excellent product.

The best by far is Kaspersky, if you type best anti-virus program into google 9 out of 10 sites will say Kaspersky is the best. I have been using it after using NOD32, AVG pro and free, McFee and bitdefender. And by far its the best, and so easy to use.
People who say Norton is the best have obviously never tried any of the others, Norton is the easiest program for a hacker to get round.
I have 2 anti-virus programs on my pc however i only use AVG to do a scan every week, and dis-able it all other times. The reason for this is AVG pigs up stuff that Kaspersky doesnt and visa versa.
Before you go ahead and change anti-virus make sure your pc is clean first, download spybot seek and destroy first update it it then run it to find problems, then click on correct problems.

You shouldn't run two anti virus programs. Nod32 is the best you can get but its not free and only available from Eset so check you have the legitimate version.
http://www.eset.com/download/index.php - nod32
You can instal one firewall, and several anti spyware programs.
Comodo Firewall is excellent, its free.
http://www.comodogroup.com/
You need all these anti spyware programs;
http://www.ewido.net - AVG(Ewido) anti trojan.
http://www.safer-networking.org - Spybot Search and Destroy anti spyware. Use the Teatimer settings to protect Internet Explorer, and the Immuniser to stop malware getting on your pc.
Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com
Plus;
http://www.lavasoft.com - Ad-Aware SE Personal anti adware
Uninstall AVG if you have the real Nod32.
Switch off System Restore as back up files may be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.
Run your anti virus and anti spyware in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.
Then add more security to stop the malware getting on your pc in the first place.
Try using Firefox web browser for general surfing, its a lot more secure than Internet Explorer.
http://www.mozilla.com/ - Firefox web browser.
https://addons.mozilla.org/search.php?q=ad+block&type=A&app=firefox - Adblock Plus
Remember to enable the pop up blocker in both your web browsers, go to Tools - Internet Options and check its on.

All this anti-virus stuff just isn't the answer for safe and secure surfing. Linux is the answer.
I used XP for 6 years, and thought Linux was trash. Then I decided to have a play with Linux, and discovered how great Linux is. My opinion has changed direction 180 degrees.
I recommend people who have never tried Linux should give it a serious test for a few months - you might just like it... you WILL like not needing to run ANY anti-virus software on your PC (Linux is totally immune). Your PC will run faster and cleaner because the processor isn't having half its power drained away by the demands of the security software.
My XP box is never allowed online anymore, so runs without any anti-virus - much faster. My bullet-proof Linux boxes surf the web with complete peace of mind, using Firefox 2. I switch on the NoScript plug-in when I move "off-piste" into untrusted sites I don't know. Linux is truly like surfing in a tank! Cool.

Why do you like 2 antivirus working on your equipment? in this rely a million+a million would not equivalent to 2. it could equivalent to 0 or heck even -a million. As they might see one yet another as threat. look different the variety to develop your equipment risk-free practices particularly than including yet another antivirus software. particularly, why do not you install computing device kit Threathfire alongside with your antivirus? it fairly is not resembling antivirus, that's build to accompany your energetic antivirus and upload yet another layer of risk-free practices. it is likewise loose. you besides might could have Malwarebytes. it fairly is an on-call for scanner. It scans and cleans tiny malware and bots that popular antivirus might pass over. it is likewise loose. yet on the tip, choose for no rely in case you desire to maintain Avast or Ms risk-free practices mandatory. Comodo firewall is alright to apply alongside with it. yet another advice on your own firewall is ZoneAlarm Firewall.

i use zonealarm as a firewall and nortons for security at the same time. no real issues there. nortons isn't a very good fly swatter a virus scan can take ages and find nothing lava soft ad aware however will find any trojan in a few minutes. you can use as many anti virus programs as you want but not at the same time all you have to do is either disable or enable which program you prefer from your start up menu. START/RUN/MSCONFIG/START UP . then untick the virus programs you dont want to use. then reboot. its about trial and error, find the program thats best for you. it saves a lot of hassle installing and uninstalling crap programs. find the one your happy with then blitz the rest.

I have been using it for years now... It is free and does everything you need it to do; it even updates itself!
I would delete all other anti virus programs off of your computer and then install the grisoft free from the link above.
I apologize in advance if I am not supposed to post links!
