It is amazing for me to read the variety of opinions expressed in the previous answers. With the lies published (probably from both sides) as news, it is no wonder our nation is so confused on the issue. However, I believe this debate is over. The majority of the scientific community have clearly believed in this for decades and more so recently, and the data shows it is happening. It is a small group of politically motivated people that try to argue otherwise. The question now is, what are we prepared to do to confront ths problem? I think education is the key; people need to understand the consequences. Also, action needs to be taken. The latest UN report gave a 90% probability that humans were behind global warming due to C02 emissions. Sounds convincing enough for me to start making changes. It is time for America to unite and show the world what we are really capable of as a people. I'm not an ultra liberal or anything like that, just a good responsible American who wants to do the right thing.

The vast majority of American's believe in global warming. But, having a long term skepticism of anything coming from government or the media, we look to other sources. What many have a hard time believing, since it’s not supported by the scientific community in general, is that humans cause something that is also happening on Mars and has happened prior to human habitation of the planet. Because of that, many do not see global warming as something we can significantly alter so not something to risk our economy over. Really, there are a lot of good reasons for cutting down on pollution but we get rather defensive when criticism is leveled on us based on propaganda and we are expected to sacrifice our well being while others do little or nothing.

I'm sure the majority of Americans believe in global warming but no politician is prepared to make unpopular legislation that may damage the dollar and result in their own long term prospects. I think California is the most aware state and hopefully it will awake the conscience of the nation

Global warming is happening. No denial of that here.

It just seems that the solutions that others come up with most negatively affect the U.S. All these tax solutions, regulations, etc. are not a sure fire 'solution' and it seems to be a way to redistribute the wealth of the U.S. around the world.

I just think you are jealous. Of my enormous t.v. (my t.v. is causing global warming???)

*and if you have any ideas of how to effectively engineer a public transportation system in a country as large as mine, let's hear it!

Dear Sir or Mame, evidence is now pointing toward Global Warming as being a natural occurrence and has little or nothing to do with pollution levels in the atmosphere. You need to read up a bit...

Not ALL Americans are incapable of believing. And, some of those Americans who behave as though they do not believe are lying for reasons of greed and social engineering motives. But, many Americans who do not seem to "believe" lack the fundamental education in sciences and the necessary critical-thinking skills to be able to discern for themselves what is happening, which is not actually "disbelieving", but instead, ignorance. A growing percentage of Americans do not even know "cause and effect" or "subjective/objective."

Honestly, those who claim that the evidence "proves" this claim are very presumptuous. There are just as many, or more, scientists who will put their name on research that says that global warming is not real, and/or it is not caused by the use of combustible fuels. I think for many people, as for myself, it is the anger of having the issue shoved down our throat ever single time we open the newspaper or turn on the TV. I want to say, "please drop this agenda. enough already!"

because global warming being caused by man is a fiction. If you followed the facts and think for yourself, you might be surprised what you'd find, but being european, you'll just keep following your political leaders like sheep.

I guess it is these same SUV driving, TV watching, Super Sizing Americans that are causing the same "global warming" conditions that are also occurring on Mars? I knew we had power, but wow. (where's my remote?)
