Plus, she speaks like creole; comes from southern Louisiana and such. Is there some slang like that? Like yo, corn child, ?

Uh, that would so freak me out! Has she ever seen the movie or even know it exists! But perhap she is referring to "children of the corn" as the beginning of something great. Corn is the starting ingredient of alot of cool foods... tortilla, corn meal, and alot of times the main food source for people in starving countries. I dont know- but its a good guess!

I find that hilarious. Your teacher's probably a little eccentric, but that isn't neccessarily bad unless (s)he does other things that are mean or just plain creepy.

Yeah, that just is not normal. I am pretty straightforward with my teachers so I am pretty sure I would ask him or her what he or she means by that.
