Your kidding me right? Why is Christmas in the US celebrated in Winter? Coz ummm...I'll keep this really simple - when the earth rotates through the year, each country is a different distance from the sun and it just so happens that in December, Australia is closer to the sun than the US is....and Im just assuming your from the US here coz thats such a silly question!

Christmas Day is on 25th December each year. In the northern hemisphere that is our winter. Australia being in the southern hemisphere has summer then.

It happens here in New Zealand also. Ridiculous actually! A big fat man dressed head to foot in a thick red fur-trimmed suit, black gumboots, thick bushy beard riding a sleigh through a snow filled landscape.....in the middle of summer!

they're on the southern hemisphere, and unlike america the summer for them hits in our winter, and vise versa. So december is a warm month for them, a cold one for us, july a warm one, them a cold one.
