Liberalism would be near the top of my list. Moral relativism is a fact of existence but cannot be an absolute. We do all have to live together in harmony as the liberal perspective would favor, but there are lines that must be drawn. These lines need not be the necessary minimum for us to function with liberty, they need to be higher. Every time we lower the acceptable standard of behavior, the next lower being stands up and demands recognition. Follow that thought to it’s logical conclusion and you will find anarchy.
Think of it like a speed limit. Post 55 and people go 65-70. post 65 and people go 75-80. People inherently recognize the fact that the speed limit is an arbitrary figure and they test the limit. They drive close enough to the limit to cause the least probability of attracting law enforcement, but they want to go even faster.
Likewise, fear of social and/or legal backlash is what motivates us to perform within societal norms. The lower those norms get, the more the debased individuals of our society fell justified in getting.

I think one of the worst problems that face sociology is that we're loosing the ability to argue and look at problems. The louder voice is winning, and instead of becoming a smarter people, we're only becoming better and becoming louder and more powerful on the opinions we want to project- because winning- not truth- has become the goal.
This weakness and laziness to true debate and logic has left us running in circle with the possible solutions. Often, even, we can't even agree on a problem or the aspects of the problem to make a true problem solving argument.

Poor people.
They seem to just keep getting poorer and poorer with no way out. THEY need to step up to the plate and make a change. ONLY they can change their habits and way of living which is why they are where they are.
I don't know if education will even help for in the end it is OUR decisions that make our lives what they are. They simply have to learn how to make different decision and not spend everything they get but save it and soon it will be making more money all by itself.

Degradation of moral standards. The stepping over of love and compassion and empathy for others. The ignoring of doing what is right for the pursuit of immediate gratification. Einstein said it best; "The world is a dangerous place, not because of evil but because of the people who don't do anything about it".

poverty, it leads to:
lack of opportunity
crime
social disadvantage
health problems
mental illness
inequality
these issues then become problems for the whole community but are often looked upon as individual problems rather than as symptons of a failing socail structure
