I've been behind mal since his early lanchashire days, and i have been asking this question since he joined us. Why isnt he on the england team? He got his break this year, and i think he did pretty well. I would also like to see stuart law in the england setup soon, and possibly gary keedy too. Law and Loye have been consistently near the top of the batting averages in 1 and 4 day cricket, so why leave two of the best batsmen in the country out? Gary Keedy has also been one of the most economic and leading wicket takers, again in the 1 and 4 day format, so why leave another of the proved best players in the country out?

Loye was only ever seen as a replacement for Michael Vaughan in ODI cricket. Probably the main reason was that even though everything look spectacular when he clicked, his technique needed a bit of refining for international cricket.

He missed out on many scoring opportunites by looking for the slog sweep far too often, he needs to learn to reign in his desire for that shot. He was also found out outside off stump, as I think he was out the same way in 4 or 5 straight games.

The main aspect he needs to work on is his backlift. If you watch him, he essentially has has 2 backlifts when the ball is about to be bowled, causing him to be late on the ball on a number of occasions leading to him edging the ball behind the wicket.

I've been ASKING myself, those SAME TWO questions, since the squad was announced! He's been in GREAT touch, recently, - so, there's just ONE answer, that I can think of! DUNCAN FLETCHER ain't English, - so, HE doesn't WANT England to WIN IT!

England selectors may have considered that they have better options than Mal Loye and hence did not select him.

Well that's what they did to Panesar and Ried for the opening ashes test... If nothing else the selectors are consistent... consistently idiotic.
