I want to win the lottery and retire right now at the age of 40 if not, I will probably retire at 65 at the earliest.

Well, with the career I want to go into, I hope I never get tired enough with it to retire completely. If I can't do what I want, I suppose I'll settle for whatever age I'm required to wait for.

(Since I'm 26 I'm assuming they'll be upping the retirement age by the time I get anywhere near it)

IS THE SAD TRUTH WORTH BEST ANSWER.........

I would love to retire today. (age 42 )

But the sad reality is that with Social Security going down the tubes and nearly not enough people saving for retirement ( 401k ect. ). Just read in USA today that personal retirement savings are now at there lowest point EVER!

Most people will find out, later in life, that they can't afford to survive if they retire!

Not sure. Ive worked with a lot of people who get bored being retired so they go back to work. And others travel and party like college kids after they retire.

I'm already retired, can I still answer your question?
I wanted to NEVER work! As life doesn't always work out the way you want it to ....I HAD to work! I couldn't retire until 64...I had too many mouths to feed at the end of my money. So a word from the wise....investors make more hay while the sun shines.
P.S. Retirement is WONDERFUL!

If I had the job I really, really wanted then probably around 60-65. As it stands now, maybe 40-45. The job I have now is great but it gets stressful a lot of the time.
