Consider the BP's of NH3 and PH3. Which has the higher BP and why?

in nh3 there is strong intermolecular hydrogen bond(since hydrogen form strong bonding with carbon,nitrogen,..).whereas in ph3 there is not so strong covalent bonds.hence it takes more energy to break the hydrogen bonds while boiling.

NH3's boiling point is -33 degrees C
PH3's boiling point is -89 degrees C

towards the halogen end of the periodic table .. the elements become more electronegative
