I once wrote a book about that. It is long out of print now, but I still have hopes it may someday come out again. The tooth fairies gather the Children's teeth because the residue of an innocent child's Magick and belief in Magick settle in their baby teeth as they grow older. The teeth are what keeps Magick in this world and allows the fairies and many other Magickal creatures to stay alive.

I think Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny had something to do with it. They were getting fed up with all the requests from children, where do I cash this in? So they invented a bogus character to pick up the overload. I think they both are getting a kick back seeing how successful the whole scheme was.
