The beginning sentence depends on what you are going to say about chocolate. The topic sentence will set the tone of your essay.

Also, use spell check on your essay before passing it in. Beginning has only one g and three n's.

Heres an opener...

The Maya believed the cocoa tree was created by the gods and that the pods holding the cocoa beans were an offering from the gods to mankind. (((you could stop here or continue with the next statement below))) I stole this from the Haagen Das ice cream site..but it's a nice dramatic start.

The maya quickly learned to roast and grind the cocoa beans into a fine paste and added it to water along with a variety of spices.
