Does it count as rock though? Because there is a hell of a lot of synth.
For pure rock I would say the psychodelia of 1966/7: Piper at the Gates of Dawn etc.

I am in total agreement with you. There were so many good bands that came out then, and since I lived in the Northwest, grunge was hugely popular.

I would definately have to agree with you, my son is named Cobain in memory of the late great Kurt Cobain, he was a misunderstood genius, i do like foo fighters and linkin tho lol....
