To me this quote is words of wisdom to an enthusiastic and idealistic neophyte. The young Don’t have a grasp of the true purpose and function love. They persue it for the wrong reasons and hold to it long after it becomes destructive due to irrational, emotional ideals.
By telling someone in this condition that’ it will be if it was meant to be,’ it at once plays to their irrational concepts and gives them permission to step back. more experienced people know that objectivity is essential and that it is possible to find happiness anew if the current relationship fails.

Good question. A lot of people toss the future up to fate. And thats where the saying comes from. Usually it happens in a situation where they can not have any control over, also a way to stop worrying about the outcome also. It gives people hope, so that is not a bad thing.
Things do..always have a way of working themselves out one way or another...I do agree with that. So this is almost the same thing.

If you believe this thought your a risk-averse person. That means you have a hard time making decisions because you analyses the situation too much. A person often ends up missing the opportunities presented or given up to him/her…spending too much on the bigger situation that may not even work at the end. It is similar to Murphy's Law - "If anything can go wrong,it will".

I used to live and die by that saying. In fact, I kinda think I came up with it. My thought is, if it is meant to be, then it should be easy to achieve. I've often sat and waited for something to happen on its own. My thought is, if one has to put forth a conceited amount of effort towards something, even if they achieve it, they achieved it by artificial tampering. This seems especially true in the case where one tries something and fails at it several times, but then finally achieves it by persistence, and in the case of human to human dealings, annoyance. So, it may not be meant to be in this case, even if it is achieved. And yet, the "If it's meant to be, it will be" saying may also be flawed. Why? Because I've sat and waited for things to happen simply, gracefully, and virtually on their own, and now I'm 25 years old- a quarter of a century old, and never so much as held a girl's hand. I've started to slowly, awkwardly, and albeit clumsily- try proactive things, even somewhat intrusive or outspoken things, at the advice of my peers. It hasn't meant a relationship for me or anything, but I have got to experience new things. One girl actually talked to me. Seriously. I'm still stunned at that.

The quote reflects the irrational concept of destiny. It's something that people say to themselves to get them through bad days like a defense mechanism, no personal responsibility.

Some things are meant to be, and I guess to me it means no matter the direction a person takes, it always leads them to a particular place, or person.

It means you are somewhat worried about things if you have to ask this question. You probably need a psychological work up.
