They say it brings shame to the family, but....the woman didn't ask to be raped. Did she? And exactly how does killing her prevent them from feeling shame that they shouldn't feel because of what was done to her in the first place?

HUH? Where'd you get that info in the first place? That's definitely not an Islamic thing. Maybe you are referring to certain cultures, but it's important to distinguish between cultural and religious practices because they are often quite different.
And you want to get your information straight before posting things that the more ignorant among us might actually believe to be true!

Back in the days and in some part of the world today a woman was viewed as a commodity. If she is not a virgin then the product is not good. No one cares about how the product felt.
Now add to that a child without a father. Who do you think will take care of a women with a child. Back in the days she could not just go and get a job, so she was better of dead then alive.

Because in Islam, men are not required to take responsibility for ANYTHING. Its always the womans fault. The Koran says that if a woman cant produce 4 male witnesses she wasnt raped, she is an adultress. Well what rapist does his dirty deed in front of witnesses? Men are not reponsible for nothing in Islam.

It seems to me they pretty much think that a woman is ruined without her virginity or if anyone besides her husband touches her. Also, it's an easy way to get rid of a wife. I've heard many stories of men having thier wives raped by their brothers so that they can kill them from some Muslim women. Remember, men rule that society, and according to them, who wants used goods?

This shows clearly the value they place upon women. The poor woman has already been sexually assaulted, like that isn't bad enough. Then the family literally implies that she enticed her attacker, bringing "shame" to the family.
What a barbarous culture that is!

Maybe they think the woman brought it upon herself by flirting or something... remember men are the ones that rule the women, so that is why the killings are done.. they dont care... they rape and then kill
