I recently moved in to my first apartment. The tub and toilet are older and, therefore, stained. Is there anything I can do about this? I am a clean person and I don't want people thinking otherwise. Thanks! Oh, by the way, the water here has some kind of minerals in it. I don't know what it is, but it tends to stain things green if it sits long enough. I don't know if that helps or not.

Hi there Sorry for your trouble. If the stains were that easy to get off, then there would be no stains. Using gloves and goggles and great ventilation, I have poured muriatic acid and left it in place for 5 minutes only, scrubbed quickly and rinsed several times. If you wait too long, the finish will strip off. It's really heavy duty, but works well. It also helps with impossible toilet bowl rings. Put an affordable water filter on your shower. Good luck and may you get what you need.

Use Tilex or any brand bleach. If the smell bothers you, use the Lysol shower "lemon scented" soap scum remover. The expensive automatic shower cleaners are a bit pricey and too high maintenance. CLR takes the lime rust away from the drain and fixtures, but good ole comet and elbow grease (use rubber gloves) will do the trick.

I also advise you in buying a shower head filter. I LOVE IT!!! The water is not harsh on my skin because of the disgusting mineral deposits and the bad water doesn't absorb into my skin or pores. And note, no lime deposits in the drain. Because your shower water is filtered of course!!

I also use a PUR filter in the kitchen sink for my drinking water. It saves me money on buying bottled water. If your water is not filtered, just imagine all the lead contents and sediment that you unknowingly drink, will effect your health. Trust me.

i had a co-worker that had the same problem with the water, unfortunally she is blonde and her hair turn king of green in some parts.

buy anymays, there is something called "mean green" that works very well with stains. also there is a "easyoff max" that might work, but i realy recomend "mean green" you can fing it a "dollar general" or like a "family dollar"

You can try a mixture of lemon and baking soda along with something like a brillo scouring pad. Also, try powdered iron rust remover from a can.

CLR (Calcium Lime Remover) works wonders for that. You can buy it on the cleaning aisle at most any supermarket.
