Good luck. I doubt he'll pay, unless he decides to do so on his own. The courts are pretty much useless. My wife's ex owes over $22,000 in child support, and we'll never see a dime, even though she's gone to Friend of the Court hearings many times. They just DON'T force men to pay, and some guys won't pay, unless they have to pay.

I don't know that you could call it child abandonment. That is usually when the father has nothing to do with the child in any way for a year or so. For not paying child support, if it has already been court ordered, and he is not following thru, you (and if you have an attorney, have him/erher) take your ex to court for contempt of court. I don't know what state you reside in, however, at least some, if not all, states look at visitation and child support as two different issues. Contempt of court is not something he will want to do for much longer, especially when you take him to court on it. Take care.

Does your 9 yr old have a price tag. Is it he won't pay, or can't pay? I bet your daughter loves him, whether or not support has been paid. It should NOT be mentioned to her anyways. Thats not cool if thats the case. Some dorks out there are always on time with their support, yet have nothing to do with their children. Your child is 45 steps ahead of kids like that. Emotional security is going to make her a better person in life, although I am sure paying your bills would help your sanity. The government usually steps in if its way past due. They can garnish wages, take away his driver license. You just want him to all the sudden not be in your child life. Your ex doesn't have his priorities in order, but I must say that you don't have em in order either. Let your daughter and her daddy continue with their relationship. Did your dad see you while you where groing up.

What is his financial situation. If you work with the guy, you will see a better chance of having a problem free support situation. You7 need to find out what the problem is,, if he is not living on beans,, he needs to help you care for your child,, on the other hand, if he is,, all that pressuring him is gonna do is make him bitter and make him try to hide out of anger and spite, it happens all the time. If I were you I would call him up and discuss his financial situation,, letting go of some or all of the past support owed for solid future payments, if the guy has it, might be wise. But you first really need to determine what kind of financial shape he's in. Go from there,, just talk to him,, if you don't believe what he says demand proof,, like pay check stubs,, to verify. If you feel he's dodging you, then go to the authorities.

Go to Friend of the Court and let them know that he is behind in Child Support....Anyone court ordered to pay child support has to pay or they will be prosecuted by the state.

If there's a court order in effect for him to pay child support then he can be charged with violation of a court order & family court can order his employer to garnish his wages for past support (arrears) & all future payments. Also the I.R.S. can & will deduct any arrears owed you. You are also entitled to medical insurance for your child through his employer if his co. offers medical insurance coverage. He should already be liabe for a certain % of any unpaid medical bills. This he should be doing anyway if he's any kind of a man. I pay child support & have NEVER neglected my responcabilities.

Time to go back to court. He can't get away without paying. It is your child's right to have support, and you are the one who will have to fight for her.
