Are they also called Four Father's?

All of our predessessors are called "forefathers" because they came "before us." Get it? As far as the nation goes, Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton, Adams and Franklin are most commonly associated with the founding of the USA.

Darchangel,

Um, so let me get this straight. The Continental Congress wanted to pick an "idiot" to be Commander of the Continental Army. The Constitutional Convention wanted to pick an "idiot" to be it's President. And the nation wanted to pick an "idiot" to be it's first President. ?????????????????????????????????????

Get real man. Of course the British never took him seriously, he WAS a traitor to them!

Traditionally, the Founding Fathers list contains some big names, if you want a simple list, go with the first answer up there. But the list contains over a hundred men. Start with the signers of the Declaration of Independence, throw in the signers of the Constitution, and sprinkle in a few Revolutionary War Heroes along the way. Some people will take this list even further because even presidents like Monroe, JQ Adams, and Jackson had a major effect on seeing the Nation through its first rough years. I've even seen the list contain Civil War icons because this was the first real test of the Constitution. If the South would have won, the Constitution would have been junk (because they were breaking it in SO many ways).

They are not are they Four Fathers. The phrase is rather vague, as the cast changed over the months of Revolution and government creation.

I must answer your question by helping you to ask it better. I think what you are trying to find here is, "Who was the Founding Father's of the United States of America." America by itself is not the Name of this Country!!!
