it's not a phone service. It's an emergency service, concierge service, directions, weather, roadside assistance service. In 2004 it was offered free for one year, then you had to pay like onstar. Now it's free for four years.

The only feature of it that i like (never used though) are: roadside assistance, airbag deployment notification, and stolen vehicle recovery.

its bmw assist... its just like onstar... you need to subscribe to the service in order for it to work.
its one of those things, that about 50% of bmw owners use, the others dont...
