I know lot's of ppl say world history prepares you for college but do Iactually need it?

Most colleges will not require courses in world history as a requirement for admission.

But better colleges will look at your transcript and wonder why you did not take any world history or world civilization courses.

And just as you've already heard, entering college without a background in world history will put you at a significant disadvantage in terms of preparation. Most courses in the humanities and social sciences assume a basic high school level knowledge of world history.

Besides, do you really want to be the person in class that everyone laughs at because she really doesn't know the difference between Karl Marx and Groucho Marx?

(I'm sure you do know the difference already, I'm just trying to make a point.)
