I KNOW the republican party as a whole, the conservative values and beliefs that most seem to be getting away from lately is the best for this country. Does a party that believes that people like Al Gore, who claims that global warming is a problem created and worsened by humans, should be given a pass to fly around and burn fossil fuels in his private jet and drive around his fossil fuel burning SUV and use the energy that his mansion consumes, and then expect everyone else to use little or no fossil fuels and other energy, seem like the party that is for america? Or the same party that thinks we should take away personal responsibility and make everything free through government programs, are they the ones that want the best for this country? The party that wants to take away the american dream and the desire for people to start businesses and create jobs for others in the process, because we should tax the wealth that they work so hard to create to give to the bums that want everything handed to them, and at the same time say the the Hollywood stars should be able to keep their money (who do you think financially supports liberals), that is who we need in charge of this wondeful country? Of course lets not forget the liberal democrats don't believe in the constitution and want to add things to it that our founding fathers never intended like seperation of church and state, or take away from it like wanting to ban firearms. I can give many more examples if you need them, but again I know that conservatism is what is best for this country.

They're both wrong. Parties are wrong altogether, and our founders knew it. The best example of this was Madison's discussion of the ills of political factions in Federalist #10. Even Washington thought they were a bad idea.
The problem with parties is that they take the place of informed decision. Rather than vote the issues, people simply choose the party they think is closest to their beliefs.
So, as I said, they're both wrong. They're all evil, I don't care if there are 100 different parties, they shouldn't exist at all. They undermine democracy. It's about time we moved away from all of this "my party is better than yours" crap, and started voting the issues.
This is my honest opinion. I've been a registered voter for 10 years, and I've never been a member of a party. If only others cared about their country enough to adopt the same philosophy, perhaps we could move away from the absurd inter-party bickering and really start working on the problems that plague our once-great republic.

I see a lot of Republican and Democrat comments on here. To all of you who would say Democrat or Republican I want you to stop and think about something:
Is the country better or worse than it was 50 years ago? Is the national debt bigger or smaller than it was 50 years ago? Are the taxes lower or higher than they were 50 years ago? Is the dollar worth more now or was it worth more 50 years ago?
These are VERY important questions. Why? Because for nearly the entire history of the United States we have been ruled by two political parties. And every year the country becomes more indebted, more corrupted, more morally bankrupt, more taxes, and more enslaved. Tell me something: When you vote do you say you are going to vote for the "lesser of two evils"? If you do, did you realize you are still voting for evil?
STOP VOTING DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN!
Vote Libertarian! Vote Constitution Party! Vote Reform Party! Vote SOMEONE ELSE INTO OFFICE! Every Democrat and every Republican is bought and paid for by special interest groups, lobbyist and the military industrial complex. They are taking away your freedoms. They are destroying our way of life. They ARE NOT closing down our borders. They are not ending illegal wars. They are NOT putting a stop to the devaluation of our dollar. They are both DESTROYING our country.
WAKE UP! STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS OR GOOD REPUBLICANS! START BEING GOOD AMERICANS!

As far as being smarter...that's subjective
Now as far as being patriotic, which I believe is being faithful to the Constitution, the Democrats are by far...as proof take a look at the vote on the Un-patriot act.
The White House and GOP leaders urged Republicans to support the president and extend the law, which is scheduled to expire Dec. 31. "Renewing the Patriot Act before it expires in December is literally a matter of life and death," said Rep. Ric Keller (R-Fla.). Forty-four Democrats joined 207 Republicans in voting to renew key provisions of the act, with some modifications, for four years. Eighteen Republicans, 155 Democrats and one independent voted against it.

The smartest party and the most patriotic aren't necessarily the same.
The Nazi Party is the most patriotic while the smartest party is either the Democrats or Vermont Progressives. Maybe Freedom Socialist.
But I'm British and I back Old Labour.

Democrats--
that's the side I think is right. As for who is smarter? I'll throw that one over to the Republicans... they beat us out for more than a decade, that has to count for something, right?
As for Patriotism... I travel outside of the country a lot, and I'm constantly accused of ruining the world just because of our president. When I go and explain that I don't support the guy, a lot of Americans would accuse me of not being Patriotic. So obviously, Democrats inspire me to love my country more than the Republicans have.

I am an independant, Liberal Porgressive, and I would have to think long and hard about joining any party. But, I do think that the liberals are the enlightened ideology, for many reasons.!!!
If I did join a party, it wouldn't be either Republican or Democrat, but I would vote for either one, IF, after extensive reasearch, I found a candidate that honestly embraced the same values I do.!!!

I really like the libertarians but they need to understand that the only way for a third party to be truly viable is to emerge through local and state governments, Before they waist any money on going for the white house they should be getting house then senate seats.
