It depends on the type of test. If it's a field test you would know within minutes. If it's a lab test, about 1 to 4 weeks, depending on how backed-up the lab is.

Your employer will usually be told the results 24 to 48 hours if you have failed by phone from the clinic. Other wise they are notified by email or postal mail within the same time frame. Also the employer can call the clinic to check the results if the wish. Some employers do the test themselves and have the results right then.
