look at the tonsils and see if they are swollen, more than likely will have white looking patches on them. But then again, you could have strep throat, especially if running a fever. Try either spraying the throat with something such as chloraseptic and take motrin for the pain. Gargle with warm salt water every 2 to 4 hours. If you are running a fever, go ahead and make a dr. appt. You will need antibiotics.

First thing to do is open your mouth and look in a mirror to see if your tonsils are swollen, (age depending check to see if you have any)
next fell your glands -located approx. upper neck and check again upper neck toward your ears..

Some people will run a fever from low grade on up.

When you look in the mirror to check your tonsils look to see if you have white spots on the back of your throat if you do, it may be strep either way you need and antibotic.

im thinking that if you choke on food and spit it back up[i knwo grody] that could be a sign. Also redness/swelling of the tonsils and of the indicated area could be signs of tonsilitis as well.

just try ice cream, it sooths and also is like an ice pack for the throat.[suck on the spoon full of icecream] and chunks are not recommended in teh ice cream.

Look in the mirror, say Ahhhhh with your mouth wide open and if your throart is very red and inflamed, it's tonsilitis. But you should DEFINITELY seem a doctor.
