The suggestion about a better video card is a much better choice then a new processor.I would choose the AMD chip over Intel but that's a personal opinion. You could wait a few months and both Intel and AMD are coming out with quad cores or x4.

Core 2 Duo is the best overall.
If you only care about gaming - (and not any work) - then go with the AMD cause it will free up some money to spend on the things that are important for gaming - like your video card, joystick, ....
Core 2 Duo beats anything in terms of performance. That is not debatable, it is a fact.

Core 2 Duo, hands down. You pick the magazine, they all come out with Intel on top. Right now, the Intel chips, though they outperform the AMD chips, are even cheaper.

First see if you need a better video card and if you do buy a better one and see if the game runs fine. If it does then you shouldn need a new processor but it might be a good idea anyway to get one. Personally i would go with AMD

there both a good choice but intel has the edge over amd right now if your considering gaming i'd be putting alot more thought into what vid card am i going to buy
