I was on my mac G4 surfing the web when all of a sudden it shut off. The Computer had been charged about 45 Min prior to it turning off, so the battery still had plenty of life left. But i tried charging it and nothing. It wont even turn on...

Has anyone ever experienced this before?

any help /tips & suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you

SOME batteries for SOME models of G4 laptops were recalled. Despite what the previous answer says, yours might not have been recalled. We can't possibly know since you did not mention if it was an iBook or PowerBook, much less the size, or serial and model numbers of your battery. Check the link below to see if your battery has been recalled.

You can also press the button on the battery to see if it has any change in it. No lights or one blinking green light means it does not have enough charge. Since your computer is not turning on even when it is plugged in, this is clearly not your issue. Your computer would run when plugged in even if your battery was not installed if the battery were the problem.

The second answer links to the proper support articles, so check that out too. Good luck.

Hello. Mac G4 batteries were put on recall last August. The battery, despite what you believe, probably dead. It also might be helpful to know that they are on recall for catching on fire and/or overheating and either exploding, or burning laps, desk tops, etc. Any questions further im me lawguy04_1984 on yahoo!

Leave it off with the charger connected for about an hour and then see if it will boot up. If it doesn't try and boot up while holding down the shift key (safe mode) or while holding down the ⌘+S keys (single user mode) to run fsck. If those won't work, try booting off of the Install Disk by rebooting while holding down the C key. If all else fails run AHT from the Install disk by rebooting while holding down the option key and choosing AHT when it's icon appears.
