A good source close to the team says the Ravens are leaning towards picking G/C Josh Beekman of Boston College with the 29th pick. Beekman is a big lineman that can contend for a starting job on the Raven's inconsistent line. He is the 2nd highest guard rated in the draft behid Texas' Justin Blalock who may be picked by the Steelers at #15. There isn't too much difference between the two. He will be a good lineman for many years to come.

The Ravens will NOT take a O-linemen in the first round of this year's draft as some other people have said. In recent years, they have drafted OT Adam Terry (who filled in nicely for an injured J. Ogden for a couple games towards the end of the regular season) and last year took C/G Chris Chester in the second round. They will probably move Terry to the right tackle position left vacant by the departure of Tony Pashos to the Jaguars in free agency, although Terry is naturally a left tackle. The Ravens will probably look to draft a back of some sort to fill the need at RB and FB (they cut Jamal Lewis but are looking to resign him and Ovie Mughelli is another free agency loss). I would like to see the Ravens trade to move up about 5 spots and take RB Marshawn Lynch from Cal. if he is still available. I don't think that Troy Smith would be taken by the Ravens, they have McNair and a backup in Boller that has played before, and I don't think that they would aim for taking a QB in the draft this year on the first day.

As to rumors about who the Ravens might select, these will start to come out closer to draft day when the Ravens have individual workouts with their prospective first-round draftees.

I think the Ravens will take OG Ben Grubbs of Auburn. Their rushing attack fell to 25th last season, and contributed only 11 rushing touchdowns despite proven short-yardage runners in Jamal Lewis, Mike Anderson and even quarterback Steve McNair. Grubbs solidified his spot as the draft's top guard with a strong performance at the Senior Bowl.

If they are smart and A Thomas goes to NE like reported, I would get Willis from Miss or Polodoski (LB) from Penn St. I think M Bush would be an excellent pick in the 2nd round and T Smith will be there in the 3rd round. Your defense is your best in the NFL and I think I would keep it strong if you got quality LB's late.

if kenny irons from auburn is still avaliable, then they will pick him because they need a RB badly since they released jamaal lewis for cap room.. so he will be a nice addition to the team with mcnair still there

the ravens should look for anything that can improve their offense because that defense is already great.
