I was running a Norton Antivirus Scan when my computer froze. I waited to see if it'd unfreeze but it didn't. So I manually turned off the computer and turned it back on. When it turned back on I found it had system restored to a checkpoint 2 years ago. I have no other system restore checkpoints between these 2 years. What can I do?

Edit: I have found all my files in my G drive from before the system restore. But they don't seem to be installed at all and aren't working.

Unfortunately...I don't think you can sorry. I would suggest you turn off system restore from now. It is actually more trouble than it is worth. Scan you rmachine for your data. It may still be there. But I think Windows wipes everything out that was there after the system restore point.

Not much I'm afraid. System Restore is really useful when you're constantly making big changes to your system and you're constantly making new restore points. Otherwise its just a bother.
To avoid this in the future, either have it make restore points more often or shut the option off entirely.
I'm not a big fan of Norton either...but that's personal preference.

somewhat some issues could desire to reason the laptop to no longer boot. If there is "no demonstrate" and not something comes up on the demonstrate. Then I doubt it fairly is the stressful stress, in all hazard the motherboard, RAM or a Card (sound, video or community) that has failed. generally no remember if it rather is basically the stressful stress that has brought about the laptop to "crash" it could start up besides and are available up with the blunders "can no longer locate commonplace disk or stress 0". Or "No bootable Media" you are able to take the stressful stress out of the old laptop and the two connect it internally on a sparkling tower (in case you do no longer decide for to attempt to restoration this one) or get an exterior stressful stress case and hook it as much as the USB port on a sparkling device.
