My 9 year old is in the 4th grade and does have a I.E.P.My son has told me alot of times(atleast once a week)that these 2 boys really hate him and always threaten to make up a lie on him to get him into trouble.I did not think much of it and told him not to worry about it.Then after my son got 2 lunch detentions my son said that those boys are making up lies on him to get him into trouble.I told him he must tell the teacher(about the kids lieing to get him into trouble) and then I will take care of it.Today he came home with another lunch detention that said Playing at restroom this morning, lying to a teacher about playing in restroom.Saying that the other student was always telling lies to get him in trouble. There is no adults in the restroom with these kids and this teacher always takes these other 2 kids words for granted.Yeah it`s my fault for not nipping it in the butt when it first started but I gotta end it now. These lunch detentions are 5 days long.No recess after lunch........

in the first instance, speak to the teacher, try to remain calm but be assertive about your concerns, if you are not satisfied with the response, arrange a meeting with the Principle or school counsellor. i assume if your son on an IEP then he has learning difficulties, which can unfortunately make him a target of bullies within the school, this is a form of bullying and should not tolerated, dont take no for an answer

You are right, this should have been taken care of way before now. You need to make an appointment to speak with the principal and the teacher involved. If your son has never been in trouble before and there are other teachers and students to support this, then something will be done. If nothing is done, then make appointment with the superintendent of schools and go from there. This is how we see horrible acts of children doing things to other children after they have been terrorized. Do not let this go any further. Good luck and take care of this first thing Monday morning. Make sure you go over what you want to say to them in your head, as you do not want to lose your temper as this could only make things worse for your son.

Talk to the principal and see if she/he interviewed the 2 students who are accusing your son himself/herself. If they did, were the kids interviewed separately? Usually, when you interview the kids separately, you can tell if they've made it up because the stories don't match.

This needs to be investigated. If these two kids are making this up, why do they hate your son so much? I'm not saying your son did something to deserve it, but sometimes little things start and spiral out of control. Perhaps your son may have done something without even realizing it. On the other hand, if these two kids are just little chumps picking on your son because they perceive him as weak, then the school needs to take steps to
protect him.

Go into your meeting thinking "Calm and rational. Calm and rational". Whenever I meet with parents, I try to reach out to them with the idea to solving the problem and meeting the child's needs, but if hey continually go off and become obnoxious then the meeting goes nowhere. Good luck!

Unless you plan on interveening on his behalf the rest of his life let him grow up and learn. Put it this way; as an adult have people totally stoped making up lies about you? Can you honestly say no one has lied about you in the last year at work? Let him learn; that's why he is in school.
