During weeks with nice clear skin im the happiest guy in the you'll meet, often humming tunes to myself, being very friendly and just enjoying life.

But when I have a few weeks of crazy blackheads on my face I just feel ashamed. I'm gloomy, miserable, and unhappy with myself. It's like a depression. How do I get past this? It's ridiculous a few zits make me this way but I cant help it! Ive been using proactiv for a week now, and its starting to help a bit.

Don't be so caught up in your physical appearance! Believe me, people don't look at others and criticize them as harshly as we all think. If you have a great personality, show it, whether you have pimples or clear skin. People will look past your acne and find the wonderful person that you are inside attractive.

Stick with the proactiv -- I had really bad acne, and after two to three weeks, my face had cleared up. Now, about three years after first starting to use proactiv, my face is still perfectly clear and I get compliments on my skin a lot (just make sure to use a facial moisturizer because it can make your skin dry and flaky).

If you continue to have a psychologic problem accepting your skin in the meantime, volunteer at a place like a homeless shelter, halfway house, etc. It'll make you appreciate all that you have even more and allow you to use your skills and talents to help others.

Good luck -- hope this helps you!!! :D

I understand what you are going through and how hard it can be. Yes, acne can really lower your self esteem, especially if you had it for years as I did.

Acne is a normal part of life, most teens will get it at some time, so I don't think anyone is going to think it's weird that you have them. Also, remember we notice our own problems more than other people do. I gurantee you that while you are worrying about your "zits", some people, including girls, don't even notice, or even care. I know that doesn't help a lot, but you can't let acne control your life, as I did. Breakouts happen, and even the cute girls get them sometimes.

Let me try to explain something. You are probably so upset about your acne that you don't notice anyone else sometimes. Try looking at the other guys and girls. You will see that you are not alone, and there is no reason to feel like so unhappy and depressed. There are ways to control the severity of your breakouts, but as a young person you just have to know that breakouts happen. Just don't let it get to you, and eventually you will grow out of it.

Why did this get a thumbs down? It was a rational thought-out answer by someone who had "zits" for years. I guess some people just don't like advice that is given to them.

Hi instead of seeing it as when your zits arrive you are depressed--maybe you should be figuring out if there is another connecting quality in your life--is there any pattern going on that makes you depressed (which btw can cause zits).

Say if its every few months--is it exams or something more serious? Then you get down & then you get zits?

I would think that also giving the skincare more like 4 weeks to work is a better way to go--then asking such questions afte 1 week.

Simply ignore it. Be yourself. It's something that happens, and will eventually go away. There is no reason to not be proud of yourself just because of a few zits. Besides, if anyone even dares to make comments about them, tell them to not be so shallow. How you look today is nothing on the larger scale of how you will look through out your life.

Quit looking in the mirror so much!

Sun usually helps out a lot.
Try tanning.

Zits and blackheads just piss me off.
A freind said I had "Detroit" on my nose.
I guess I never really looked all that close.
Everybody gets them. Few can overlook them.
