and a little bit of red on its "but" under the wing feathers? Looks kinda like a wren or sparrow other than that..

sort of a dusty red, not a bright red and not all the chest is red, just the top half?

It is called a purple finch. Some of them have a red rump which appears as a stripe between their folded wings.
