There's no reason why a 14 y-o can't write a novel. (I did.) However, it's uncommon for a first novel by a teenager to be accepted for publication. I wrote a book of short stories and then three novels between the ages of 12 and 14. Then I wrote another one when I was 15-16. THAT one was published.
Publishers, BTW, usually don't work in pages, they work in word count. A novel for teenagers can be anywhere from 20,000 to 80,000 words or more. 120,000 words can come up to about 500 pages once it's published.
I suggest you get an editor or assessor to look at your first chapter before you start sending the ms to publishers. It can cost anything from $20.00 - $400.00 to get an assessment. "Affordable Assessments" is one of the cheaper companies.

Well, i suppose it is possible, considering i am 14 and am writing a novel, that which is 340 pages so far...So yes, of course! I encourage you very much!
(though i do take offense when you say that fictional stuff is stupid)
But i give you the best of luck!!!
And it depends what age group you want to read---
children- 100-190 pages
teens- any amount really, i've just read Bridge to Terabithia, and it was very short but i loved it
adults-300 pages and up
It doesn't really matter how many pages there are, just as long as the story is good.

I have found that teen fiction is shorter in length than adult fiction. Most publisher websites that I have been on suggest 40,000 to 50,000 words for a teen book. The novel I finished in November is 96,000 words, it is an adult genre.
My daughter is working on a novel and she is fourteen, so yes, a fourteen year old can write a novel. Anyone writing a novel that wants it published, no matter the age, will have to work diligently to see it published. You can't be afraid of criticism and rewrites. It comes with the job. Just be thankful for the advice and never give up.
I usually go by word count, not pages. But, my manuscript is 330 double spaced typed pages.

Sure! Why not? If it's good, yeah I'll read it. Look at Christopher Paolini, he wrote Eragon when he was 15. A typical novel is 50,000 words long, and a typical page has about 300-500 words on it and usually between 15-20 chapters. Hope this helps. I'm working on a couple.

First of all, "fictional stuff" is not stupid, if written by talented writers. There is no such thing as "stupid fictional stuff", only stupid writers writing fiction.
Second: novels are not "usually paperback with 300 to 400 pages..." If this is what you think that a novel is made of, then you could stop writing right now.
Third: it is, normally and usually, more difficult to write a novel than a short story, especially at your age and with your experience (none, I guess). Take it step by step and start with short stories.
And, YES, a 14 year old human being can write a best seller.
OH, BOY, YOU JUST GOT ME STARTED. TWO THUMBS DOWN, ONE FOR YOU, I GUESS.
LIAR!!! YOU, PATHETIC LIAR. I READ YOUR QUESTIONS AND I SAW THAT IN ONE YOU'RE 10, IN ANOTHER YOU'RE 13, IN THIS YOU'RE 14, IN ONE YOU'RE IN THE FIFTH GRADE, IN ANOTHER YOU'RE IN THE 6TH GRADE... WE TRIED TO HELP YOU AND YOU CALLED US AMERICANS. NO, I AM NOT AN AMERICAN. I DON'T KNOW WHAT COUNTRY YOU'RE FROM, BUT YOU'RE A COWARD AND A LIAR.
SHAME ON YOU!

Well it has to be pretty good and not like every other chick lit book out there. My friend is writing a book and in the process of publishing so I don't see why you shouldn't either. Amelia Atwater Rhodes published her book at 13 and she's written so many, I love her books. I think it's cool that teens are writing books especially books about teen girls because you would actually know what's going on in our world and we could relate.

She can, but for people to read it, it has to be very good. But often that's not the case. Plus, getting published is very hard. Publishers are out to make money, and if they don't think a book will make money, they'll reject it.
And the length of a novel depends on the genre.

For one thing, I take offense to the American remark. I don't consider myself rude, thank you very much.
To answer your question 'politely' and as an 'American', I would read a novel written by a 14-year-old. I'm only 15 and I'm writing a novel. My friends love it and no they aren't just saying it to be nice. It's possible. Meg, I'm sure, wrote short stories and beginnings of novels when she was our age. Just let it flow.

I likely wouldn't read it, but by all means a 14 year old girl can write a novel, anyone, if they are talented and dedicated can write a novel.
