Heroism. He probably fantasizes about how is going to be hero worshipped after the fact. I think he also dreams about the 42 virgins waiting for him. Do they ever wonder where the constant supply of 42 virgins come from? Who supplies these women and how did they end up in heaven. What happens when the supply runs out? Wanna go back to earth where he came from?

The same feeling that a Commando soldier has when landing behind enemy lines and blasting himself in order to cause explosion in enemy ammo dumps or fuel stations or Aircraft and Missile silos... the satisfaction of offering the supreme sacrifice for the protection of Home Country. Every such person considers himself or herself a Martyr in a noble cause, irrespective of what others think about it.

Suicide bombers are raised to believe that they are martyrs and will be greatly rewarded in the afterlife for giving their lives for the fight. It is kind of sick, but they think they will have 72 virgins waiting for them in heaven. I guess that's their motivation.

What makes them do it? Indoctrination. They conform to their societies beliefs. As a total disbeliever in any religion, I think they are fools, but I suppose I should respect their decision to end their own life, but I can not respect the taking of life from others.

For the good of either society or to their God.
Kamikazes die because of their god.
The same thing goes for people at war.
Suicide is for the benefit of society.
All are extremely difficult to do and takes a lot of training and discipline.

He's doing it for his religion. If all your life society followed religion extremely closely, you'd think it was your duty to carry it out. I know it seems silly to us, but they have a totally different mindset there.
Soo through his mind.. I'm assuming fear, he has no clue what awaits him after the big boom. Well I'd sure be scared to death if I was in his place
