My five month old refused rice cereal about a month ago, and just reading answers to a previous question is leading me to beleive that Oatmeal is the opposite of rice cereal. True or False?

My daughter has chronic constipation. We took her off of the rice because it binds them up. Oatmeal will not bind them up, but it won't give them diarrhea either. We only give oatmeal now.

FALSE.
Oatmeal and Rice are BOTH grains and have the same effect on your diet.
Adding oatmeal to your diet can actually help alleviate constipation.

with any high fiber cereal if you drink lots of fluids then the fiber will move through easily...if the kid isn't getting enough fluids, then it may stop him up a little....i added a little bit of a fruity baby food to cereal for my diahgter when she got tired of it...maybe you should look into that....
