I've tried searching all the questions on here, but I recently had to replace my motherboard due to a failure, and I replaced it with an identical model. The PSU is brand new, and the Hard Drive has been tested on another computer and works fine, but I can't get anything when I turn the computer on. All the fans, cooling system, and CD-ROM drive come on, but nothing ever displays on the screen. I've tried reseating the video card and RAM with no success. HOWEVER, ONE time I was able to get the BIOS screen to come up with my Windows Vista CD in the drive, but I didn't have the keyboard plugged in to bring it to setup, and I haven't been able to get it again. Help?

Replace the CMOS battery. If you bought it online at Newegg or some similar site, they sometimes ship with a dead battery. Otherwise, make sure that your powersource is still functioning properly...if the fan isn't blowing, you have a problem.

Don't boot with the "Vista" CD in the CD drive...try to boot normally first.

Basically, it'll be start and restart for you. Unplug everything and try to start. BIOS shows up - great. Plug in the hard drive, restart - Windows starts - great...

Step by step! Replacing the mobo is a pain in the ***. Boot to the CD that contains the mobo's drivers first.

plug in just the basics: power supply, motherboard a stick of RAM (if you several & still have problems try swapping them), video card (if you have on-board, use that instead), keyboard (although POST will go on even without one). now everything should work but if not then I suspect if not the ram then it can only mean the mobo although i had one pc where the power supply is causing the problem.

Try this.....one stick of ram, video card, cpu, and HDD. if it still won't post, you're back to RMAing the board again.
