Regarding looters: What would be an appropriate punishment?

They go to jail for one year (at least) and sit in a jail cell alone and get to read all of the really nice fashion magazines and food magazines while they wear VERY worn prison uniform that does not smell downy fresh and eat food that is healthy but not tasty and when they go home they find that ALL of their worldly posessions have been looted from them including all of the sentimental ones. Oh yeah. . . .while they are in jail they are around others but all the others are instructed not to speak to them and if they do they are punished for it

depends. the "looters" after katrina... well, most of em were takin stuff they needed to survive. not all, i grant u.... wtf r u gonna do w/a big screen tv when ur whole home is under water? but still, the ones who took food and clothing, thats understandable. now, the looters who just see an opportunity and run with it, literally... i dunno what to do bout it, but they better not take my stuff!
