Depends which goaltender stands up.
Luongo is one of the best goalies in the league behind Brodeur and Kipper, but he has no playoff experience. He could easily choke (hopefully, for Canuck fans, not as bad as Cloutier).
Emery and Gerber have a bit more experience in the playoffs, but nothing like a Brodeur/Kipper. Things could go either way.
I think Ottawa has more depth all around and more stamina in a 7-game series. But I'm also a little biased.
Vancouver does not go any further than Ottawa in the playoffs. That is completely false. They have both had their troubles in the playoffs.
I'd personally rather an Ottawa/Calgary series. That would be an incredible match up!

In Vancouver it's basically the Luongo show... he probably should be the Hart trophy winner... or at least a leading candidate as no one really can deny he is the #1 reason by far that the Canucks are even contending for a playoff spot.
That being said.. if Luongo goes down in the playoffs.. who really thinks they have any chance at advancing? Even with him... he can't do it all in the playoffs and I just don't think the team has the depth to win 4 rounds in the playoffs. Luongo may steal a round or even two for the team but I think lack of depth up front will do them in.
Ottawa... well yes they always do seem to choke but you have to think they will break that streak someday. No one gives them any chance because they ALWAYS choke.. well this year they may actually go all the way just because no one gives them a chance over teams like New Jersey and Buffalo. They have the 2nd best offense and defense in the East and I'd say they have a better than good chance of meeting Buffalo in the conference finals. Will they beat them? Right now the edge is to Buffalo but if Buffalo has injury trouble in the playoffs.. especially to Miller in goal now that they've traded away backup Biron... Ottawa could find themselves playing for the Cup.

Ok too the Flames fan above me, first off you rely on your goalie all the time in the playoffs. Carolina won the cup because Cam Ward stood on his head, hence the Conn Smythe Trophy.
Funny, my beginning of the year prediction was Ottawa all the way, with Vancouver making the playoffs, but i always stick with my pick, but Vancouver will definitly be in the final 4 in the Western Confrence barring injury. At the trade deadline, Dave Nonus was a genious bringing back Brent Sopel who is very familiar with the playoff atmosphere that Vancouver possesses come April. As for Smolinski, hes an all around great player who does nothing but help your club. As for Ottawa, acquiring Saprikyin was huge. This provides more depth at center for John Muckler's going into the playoffs, they also added Tyler Arnason who is struggling and will be a good 3rd or 4th line guy. Mike Morrison provides depth in goal, and many people dont seem to know this but the Sens got Lawrence Nycholat who is an amazing young talent and might play as a 6th-7th defenseman, and will mayb make a playoff appearance or two.
hope this helps

in case you're taking a sturdy look on the Canadian communities, all could make the playoffs. i'm not a Habs fan yet each and every 8 years or so a goalie comes alongside in Montreal and that they win. somebody has to triumph over them. Toronto is happy making the playoffs, early go out. Ottawa, each and every year, has the aptitude to go an prolonged way yet ,each and every year, underachieve while it counts, no faith in them. Calgary has the journey and the purpose tending yet i'm an Oiler fan, savour the early golf Calgary. Oilers i'll proceed to be confident approximately. final years run continues to be sparkling in all their minds, difficult branch to win. and then there is Vancouver. For long suffering Canuck followers, so some distance Luongo has lived as much as his hype, would proceed properly into the early rounds. certainly extra perfect probability of a Canadian group coming from the west yet while Ottawa can play in April and wish they do at cases in the process the regular season, i'll grant Ottawa an exterior probability. From the west, i'm going to take the winner of the conflict of Alberta with Vancouver of challenge to boot. could be some great hockey. go OILERS..

I think that Vancouver relies too much in Luongo. I know it sounds kind of hippocritical because Calgary relies on Kipper, but in Ottawa, they have a solid goalie, two amazing offensive talents in Spezza and Heatley, and they're tough too. Vancouver just can't score enough to make a big playoff run. Ottawa is a team I can see going far into the playoffs, but Vancouver I can see drop out in the first or second round.

Definately Ottawa over Vancouver. Ottawa has alot more fire power with soild defense to back it up. Vancouver still lacks in the defense and prove it all the time with squeaking out one goal games. Calgary is starting to surge again and Vancouver will be lucky to stay on top in the Northwest Division.

Vancouver....because the East is stronger that the West and Ottawa will have a hard time getting past Buffalo and New Jersey. The Canucks have a better shot, as there is always a big upset out West almost every year(just look at what happened last season)

Sorry to be the odd one out here, but Vancouver has a better chance of winning the cup. Their goalie is amazing and realy shows even under pressure. Like Adam Sandler's song says: "Every year at playoff time, the Senators alwasy choke." I have to stnad by him here because its true, even if Ottawa has the better team, they won't hold up under pressure. So my pick goes to Vancouver, they've got a great goalie, a good coach, and a solid lineup that will pull through the hard times.

My eight year old thinks Vancouver will win, because they have a solid goalie, Luongo and a team leader,Naslund...but he WANTS the Sens to win in a shootout, with Heatley
I am a Sens fan , and every other year we came first or second and every one was saying "this is our year", and every year we tanked, while some 7th or 8th seed ended up winning...so HA HA HA HA , this year, we are sitting in 4th place, primed to let all the top contenders get knocked out by underdogs...and THEN we'll do well...well that's the plan anyways...

Im gonna have to say Vancouver. Luongo is so solid when it counts. Ottawa is extremely physical, and theyre a tough team to play, but I don't think their goaltending is quite as solid, but they make up for it on offense. So if u ask me, its almost a draw actually. It would be quite exciting to see these two in the finals.
