I started my little girl on cereal when she was 4 1/2 mths, at 6 months I've introduced green beans, squash, and sweet potatoes homemade. I've also introduced 'veggies & turkey' to her just the other day. I have not been waiting the recommended 2-3 days to see if she is allergic. I don't know if that's good or not. She seems ok and I don't want to feed her plain cereal for 2-3 days without antyhing else. Any suggestions/advice?

Her ped wanted me to put her on veggies when she was 5 months but I waited until she was 6 months. I am not feeding her all those solids at once. I started off with green beans for one week, then squash the next, then sweet potatoes and now 'veggie & turkey'. I just thought if she would have an allergic reaction to something she would during the week that I am feeding her. I guess I will wait now for 2 or 3 days. I am not trying to rush my baby on solids either, breastmilk alone wasn't enough for her she was constantly hungry, i was feeding her breastmilk every 1 to 1 1/2 hour when she reached 4 months. She was 6lbs 13 oz and her weight kept rising until she was 4 months, she slowed down so her ped suggested solids.

I think we live in such an obessed world. Back in the days when we were young our parents feed us solids at a much younger age. I was fed solids (veggie/meat pureed) at 4 months and I turned out fine. I am not a picky eater and I have no food allergies as well as my two brothers and my husband.

I mix all my baby's puree veggie with her rice cereal. 3 tablespoons of rice cereal to 3 teaspoon of veggie with formula. Nothing seems to be wrong or bothering her. She's got no rash or anything like that but I think I will wait and introduce the next veggie to her. Thanks everyone.

I don't I sometimes switch it up because I make all my own stuff and just stick it in the freezer what comes out is what she gets...in the beginning though I did wait the time but since you introducted her to so many veggies I don't think you will ahve a problem. I would try to this the a bit when you give her things like fruit because of the allergies thing at least two times in a row or make that lunch for a couple of days. Don't just give her the plain rice ceral add that to other foods. Also mix it up Squash and apples is good,

Yes! Why the rush? She gets breast milk/formula too, doesn't she? It's there to make sure that she doesn't have any allergies to the new foods. Even if you have absolutely no food allergies in your family history, it is totally possible to have a child with food allergies! It is so common these days. Don't take for granted that your child will not be allergic. Also, her little tummy is just getting used to eating all these new foods. Let her take it slow!

i could actually wait until 4 months, on the very minimum, until now introducing something previous the cereal which you have have been given already given her. additionally, if she's constipated, then i could cut back earlier on the quantity of cereal she's getting. At this component, the formulation is all she fairly needs. Why in the world are you in such a rush?? Yes, you should wait!! My mother gave me milk too early and I had alergies for a long time and everything, I mean everything dairy related that I ate had to be soy. Your daughter would be fine without any of those foods, I really don't see why you aren't taking care of her the best way, which is to follow the reccomendation to wait AT LEAST 2-3 days, some books/doctors say 5-7 days. You are in way too much of a rush. Good luck.

It's not imperitive, but believe me, it helps in the long run if she is allergic. If you start so many things at once, reactions can be immediate or delayed and hard to discern what is actually causing them. I'd go at least 3 feedings in a row to see how she reacts. Babies don't know what they're missing and unless they really hate the stuff, don't care that they're eating the same thing every day.

I used to wonder this too. Our ancestors probably didn't obsess, but they probably didn't feed solids as early as we do either b/c of lack of technology to prepare them for baby.

Still, if your baby has an allergy (as my son did to sweet potatoes), trying new solids too close together can really confuse the issue. It might not happen, but better to be safe than sorry.

You should wait a few days before interducing her to a new food.I have 6 kids,I never waited 2 days. Some days I would give them 2-3 new foods in one day.Now I often think of how dumb I was.

if your daughter is doing fine with the new foods and there doesn't look like any problems are present then she will be fine. try giving her one food at a time and see if she has a opinion on what she is eating.some babies may eat the food right then but after a while they stop eating it. good luck

It's just so you can discover any food allergies. If you introduce a bunch of new foods all at once, you won't know which one is giving him problems, if any are. But if she seems fine, no allergies, no upset tummy, then no worries.

you dont have to..you are the mother...but you should because you should wait to see if your baby haas any allergic reactions to the different foods you are giving her/him. It is just best..you dont want to regret it, and you dont want to give her two different foods at once, and then not know which one had the bad effect on her..you know?
