It is very normal for babies to go several days without pooping. They DO NOT need to go every day. If she is not uncomfortable or crying when she goes, you don't need to worry so much. If the poop is very hard and after you change her it rolls around in the diaper, she is constipated. It is normal for the poop to be firm, you just don't want it hard. Every two days is perfectly normal.

Is she breastfed? Breastfed babies almost never get constipated.

The addition of solid food to the breastfed baby's diet (or the use of formula) can make the stools become more formed. That is not constipation. It is a normal transition.

Does she seem uncomfortable while pooping or does she strain? Does the poop seem abnormally hard and/or dry. Then she may be constipated. Prune juice can help, but you should be very careful not to overdo it.

No it should be solid and not loose or watery. Give her some baby jar apricots or apples and prunes if you feel her stool is very hard, it will soften it a bit. As long as she is comfortable and not crying in pain, I think she is O.K., but she should go every day. Discuss with your pediatrician, and see what he has to say.

sounds to me like she is. i am currently going through the same thing with my daughter. i give her prune juice 2 daily and throughout the day 2 bottles of apple juice and then her regular meal. if this doesn't work try changing the foods she eats.and if you are still worried take her to her pediatrician he/she will prescribe a mile stool softener for you baby. good luck.

Constipation is when the stool is like small, round and hard pellet type...it's NOT the absense of a stool.

If she seems comfortable and does not strain when going, leave her alone.
Please try not to focus too much on your baby's bowels. It is not healthy for her or for you to focus too much on it.
If she is truely constipated, you will know it. She will be very uncomfortable.
If so, add a little (teaspoon or so) of prune juice to her formula or juice.
Talk to her pediatrician if you are unsure.

no, she is not constipated, probably lack of water or fibre in her diet, every two days is pretty ok for a 6 month old baby.

She is not constipated but you are speaking about diarrhea. Tell the doctor. She should pooh every day. If she strains a lot when she is poohing then she is constipated.

Give her some prunes or applesauce and see if she can go better. It sounds like she could be constipated.
