I have a sister who is dentist and a brother who is software engineer.Coincidentally they are both married to people who have the same jobs, two dentists in one house and two software engineers in the other. All of them seem to like certain aspects of their work.
Either field will require some rather rigorous college course work, though dentistry will require four years of dental school beyond undergraduate. Dentistry requires testing and licensing, while software engineering does not.
The average compensation for software engineers starts out better than the average for dentists, as most dentists will work as an "associate" in an office before they become a partner or start their own practice. If a dentist does run their own practice the potential for higher income is greater, but it must be weighed against the greater time demands and risks of being not just a professional but a small business owner/employer.
Software engineering can be performed off shore while dentristry will always require a human touch.

According to my point of view Dentist is the better career than Software engineer Bcoz,
1. There is no tension in the life of Dentist.
2. We have to take care of family and spend lot of time with them.
3. Even though there is an income in Software profession but there is
no peace

I find being a dentist highly monotonous and boring. Why? You see teeth everyday and smell bad breath from your clients. My dentist looks weird~!
A dentist has to work very long hours. Being a doctor may be more rewarding and more variety in work.
No one likes to see a dentist. Do you want to be in a profession where eveyryone shuns you?
This is all my personal opinion. however, I want to say that tooth extraction, cleaning is an art and a science. it takes a lot of skills.
