I have heard this question asked atleast 3 times like in the last week. What does it mean? Is it from a tv show or something?

WHAT!?!?

Are you all crazy!?!? That's not what it means at all!

It means, my little strumpet,

THat in YOUR house.... did the decorator have the foresight and bad taste to actually buy or make curtains that were the same color/style as the carpet on the floor!

These days, it is considered "kitsch" to have matching ANYTHING!

Redheads get asked this a lot because they have an odd tendency to have drapes that are the same color as their hair - they're weird like that -

They sometimes cannot afford to re-decorate, so they go out and buy some RIT dye and die their curtains blue, or something else.... So if someone sees blue curtains from outside the house, they may ask if the carpet matches the drapes, in an attempt to belittle you because they know you dyed your drapes and probably didn't have the money or patience to dye your carpet.

It is an impolite, but sometimes humorous way to ask if a person's pubic hair matches the color of the hair on their head. Typically it is used if someone's hair has obviously been dyed as a way to say that is not the person's natural color, because if it were, their pubic hair (carpet) would match their hair (drapes).

It's kind of a crude way to ask if a woman dyes her hair. Does the hair on her head match the hair on .. other parts of her body?

It is just an illustration of how low we have sunk as a culture.

Isn't TV uplifting?
